Happy summer everyone!
There are a few exciting changes happening at Portland Made. Many of you had a chance to work with Managing Director Simone Coker-Kamna. Last month she accepted a new, exciting position at Reed College. We are super grateful for her work with us and will miss her! Good luck Simone!
Because of Portland’s incredible ecosystem that supports local makers and manufacturers, now more than ever, Portland Made is deserving increased attention. After a lot of thought and consideration the timing now seems perfect to hand Portland Made off to new owners. Without further ado…
Meet Portland Made’s New Owners
“After moving to Portland in 2001 I stumbled into a job at Resource Revival, a small business that makes products from recycled bicycle parts. I started off in production assembling clocks and welding bicycle part furniture and instantly fell in love with making and selling handmade goods. Over the next 10 years I learned everything I could about operating a successful maker business from production management and operations to new product development, marketing, and sales. In 2013 I moved on to another Portland based maker business, Grovemade, at which I am currently head of both operations and marketing. Nothing makes me happier than helping passionate makers succeed. Last year I began volunteering my time at Portland Made and am very excited to begin as the new Director and Co-Owner. Kelley and Simone have provided a solid foundation for us to build upon, and I look forward to connecting with you soon.”

“For the last decade I have helped small, local businesses put their best foot forward, creating authentic and meaningful content, design and strategies. My work experience as Marketing Manager, Graphic Designer and Photographer for White Bird, Toor Creative, and Digital Alliance, has put me in a great position to take on Portland Made’s marketing, print and online presence. I’m excited to be here and look forward to continuing the conversation with each of you. Here’s to Portland Made and our mutual growth!”

a message from the Founder
As many of you know, I am a strong believer in the power of small businesses working together for mutual success. As an ongoing sponsor of Portland Made, I (and ADX) will continue to be involved, working closely with Jim and Sarah as they transition into their new roles. I am very excited to help them take Portland Made to the next level. Keep an eye out for the August newsletter highlighting upcoming events and maker news.
It’s been a pleasure working with you at Portland Made. If you would like to get in touch with me you can find me at: firstname.lastname@example.org
